H87 High-Temperature Anti-Corrosion Coating
1. Mixing Ratio and Packaging
The mixing ratio of each component of this coating is determined through research and extensive comparative testing. For convenience, the product is packaged in proportional sets when leaving the factory.
H87-1 (Red) | H87-2 (White) | |
Component A (5-gallon iron drum) | 22 | 22 |
Component B (0.5-gallon iron drum) | 1.1 | 1.1 |
SAT (bagged) | 2.5 | 2.5 |
2. Application Methods and Precautions
1) Substrate Treatment
(1) If conditions permit, sandblasting (shot blasting) treatment is recommended for better results.
(2) For rust removal by sandblasting (shot blasting), the quality should meet Sa2 grade (GB 8923-88).
(3) For manual rust removal, the quality should meet St3 grade (GB 8923-88).
(4) For old paint films that are still effective and difficult to remove manually, if the coating is confirmed to be epoxy, urushiol, polyurethane, epoxy asphalt, etc., it can be roughened, cleaned with solvent to remove contaminants, and then coated directly with this product. For poor-quality old paint films, treat according to methods (2) or (3) before applying this product.
(5) Thoroughly remove oil, dust, and other impurities from the surface before coating. Cleaned steel plates should be coated with the first layer of paint promptly to prevent re-rusting.
2) Paint Mixing
(1) After opening the drum and stirring thoroughly, pour Components A and B into the mixing bucket in the specified ratio, mix evenly, then add one bag of SAT (not required for the first primer) and stir thoroughly before use.
(2) During summer application, when the temperature exceeds 35°C, the amount of curing agent can be appropriately reduced by 1/5. Mix only the required amount to avoid waste.
(3) Generally, no additional thinner is needed during use, as excessive thinning will reduce the film thickness and affect performance. If the paint thickens due to prolonged storage or during later stages of application, add a small amount of solvent (toluene:butanol = 4:1) or X-7 epoxy thinner. If the application temperature is high, add a small amount of ketone solvent to appropriately extend the curing time.
3) Coating Application
(1) Apply using brushing, spraying (take care to prevent clogging when adding SAT), or other methods. Ensure the coating is uniform in thickness, without missed spots or sagging, and meets the required thickness.
(2) Under normal temperature conditions, one coat can be applied per day. When the temperature exceeds 25°C, to speed up the process, the coating interval can be shortened to about 8 hours. When the temperature is below 0°C, extend the coating interval to about one day, and proceed with the next coat only after the surface is dry to the touch (surface dry). Note that after low-temperature application, allow sufficient drying time before putting into use.
(3) Adding SAT to H87-1 and H87-2 significantly improves performance, so typically four coats are sufficient to meet usage requirements.
Coating Procedure | Components | Ratio (kg) | Color | Standard Thickness μm |
First Coat | H87-1 + Curing Agent | 22:1.1 | Red | 40 |
Second Coat | H87-2 + Curing Agent + SAT | 22:1.1:2.5 | White | 60–100 |
Third Coat | H87-1 + Curing Agent + SAT | 22:1.1:2.5 | Red | 60–100 |
Fourth Coat | H87-2 + Curing Agent | 22:1.1 | White | 40 |
· Precautions
· Mixed paint should be used up in one go, especially in summer when high temperatures can cause it to cure and become unusable over time.
· After each coating session, promptly clean brushes and other tools with solvent for reuse. If spraying is used, clean the spray gun and hose with solvent immediately to prevent clogging and curing overnight, which could render them unusable.
